I'm not fairly sure this is the correct forum, but here goes: I've got a Formac 160GB Oxygen External Firewire drive. It will no longer connect to my PowerMac G5. Formac say send it in for repair, but they cannot guarantee my data will be retrievable.

So, I've took out the drive. It's ATA/IDE. Doesn't fit in G5, so tried it in my old G4. A message comes up saying: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer."

It asks to either: Initialize - Ignore - Eject. I've done neither. I bought a ATA to USB connector to see if that will work on my G5, it comes up with the same message.

Anybody else had problems like this and know what steps I can take to make the drive readable?
