Which is the best option and why? When is the next refresh due?

Should I buy now or shall I wait?

I'm able to wait if possible. I want 512GB SDD/16GB RAM Apple at a baseline. Will this happen one day?

Thanks.

High end 15" rMBP has 512 GB and 16 GB RAM. With Haswell, the 15" will see some improvements but not as much as the 13" since it already has a discrete GPU. If you can wait, Skylake should be interesting, but that is about 3-4 years away. 15" rMBP will be great computer for years to come (if Apple figures out some little problems like SanDisk SSD, heat, etc).

I thought you already decided on waiting for Skymont?

Haswell planned for June, Broadwell is 2014, Skylake is 2015, Skymont is 2016. No one knows really past Broadwell, but I am sure that by Skymont, some pretty big changes will be implemented.

If you can wait, wait. But that is a long time to wait.

OP has already asked this a number of times in the past. I was being facetious :)

why not wait indefinately until someone can get you the specs you want for free and gurantee that it will never be obsolete?

Jeesus....

Oh god these posts...

Why not wait for 2016? Cause then they'll probably be lot better than next gen?! Or what about 2022???! Then they will be ****ing insane.

Stupid threads.

Buy it now if it fits you and your needs. If it doesn't... Well don't buy it.... End of discussion.

With that mindset, you'll be waiting forever. By the time 2015 comes along you will be waiting for the 2016/2017/2018 updates. The rMBP may still be in its first generation, but it is still hands down the best computer I have ever owned. Issues aside, I think you will be happy if you buy now. The time you spend using the laptop is worth it over waiting and waiting for the one mythical update that will magically solve call of today's problems.

But if you're especially pedantic about having the latest and greatest, sell it before the next update comes along. You keep up with the latest tech, and someone who doesn't mind being behind the tech curve will get a rMBP on the cheap. Everybody wins.

I have a 13'' 2009 MBP and I'm planning on selling it before the next updates to the rMBP with will most likely be in July. (I looked at the launch windows for intel chips and the corresponding Apple computers and Apple usually implements the new chips approximately one month after, so most likely July.)

I can't wait for my new rMBP ! I'm going to upgrade to a 15''.

"In the year twenty-five, twenty-five;
"If Man is still alive..."

Rolls on floor, laughing my arse off.
Metaphorically, of course.
