I've debating as to whether I should:

1) buy a Lacie 120GB Rugged USB + FW800 mobile hard drive

or

2) Buy a 250gb 7200rpm hdd to replace my current 120GB hdd in my MBP?

Which would benefit me more in the end? any performance increases with either option?

I wouldn’t go near a Lacie with a barge poll, try something by WD or Seagate if your wanting an external

I would replace the current hard drive and put the one you have in an external enclosure, right there you you hit 2 birds with 1 stone. Be extra careful when changing the hard drive, it is not as easy as the MacBook.

I would only change it once ur warranty is up. No point in voiding your warranty for just a simple hdd. But its your choice.
