As far as I know, Apple times their back to school sales with the school year in each country. For Korea, Japan, and other places where school begins in the spring, the iPod offer is on now. It seems to come around each August/September in the U.S. too.

I believe that it is also so they can help diminish the stock before their usual September iPod update. But that is only for the US stores.

I hope this is the case as I plan on purchasing a Macbook by the end of September, or at least after September 3rd (it's my bday and I plan on getting money to buy the Macbook). And I could really use an iPod as my stupid Chocolate is from Verizon and the cable to put music in it is not recognized by my PC or something and therefore I am in need of an MP3, preferably an ipod :D (Sorry for my ranting).

Quick Question...are you given a rebate on the ipod that you can put towards a more expensive one? (ie. the ipod touch's price would be deducted by how ever as much you can get a "free" ipod for). I would be interested in that especially if the rumored price drop happened over the summer.

Thanks

I believe that you are given a rebate for the lowest priced iPod nano, and that it can be used on other iPods.

I am a bit confused about this promo.

So its only available if you are a student?

so if i were to buy a macbook pro with the student discount here in the US, i'd pay $1799 and get a free ipod nano?

Yes you must be a student and you would get a rebate for the price of the nano. ($200).

True. In fact, now that I think about it, they probably will :p

The iPod touch should qualify. It is an iPod in every sense, and there's no special contract attached to it, nor does its price fall below the rebate offer (which is why the Shuffle is excluded).

I suppose you are right. It would be pretty cool if you could buy an iTouch that cheap :p
