Buy a Mac now or later - Intel LightPeak

I wanted to buy a mac this year but since their expensive i wanted to buy a mac at the time of release. The problem is I heard that a intel light peak adapter/connecter is coming out and i was wondering should i buy the mac this year after the new release or wait another year for light peak. the reason for this is that I wont be able to buy one for 5 - 10 years. I also heard that the new ipod in 1010 will be thelight peak adapters.

If you can wait, wait. Who knows when Light Peak will see its introduction, but it won't be January of 2010.

Don't wait for a NEW connectivity option that has yet to be finalized into a consumer version, and has yet been adopted as a new standard. In 5-10 years who knows what connectivity will be. However, for the next 1-2 years don't hold your breath for Light Peak.

Light peak is who knows when, who knows if it'll ever come to be, who knows, who knows, who knows.

Light Peak is awesome but how many of your devices are gonna be Light Peak ready?

What is the point of light peak if what your connecting is a POS?

Mac with Fusion ioDrive (520 MB/s) --> Light Peak --> iPod (Slow ass *hit)

See the problem here? Your not going to get the speed you think. Don't even think about putting an Intel SSD in your iPod, too slow for your Light Peak.

I doubt LightPeak will see the light of day anytime soon.
It was shown on a mac pro.... and had a giant board attached to it to make it work. It will be at least a year before they perfect it...and another year to miniaturize it for portables.
So when you hit the lotto in two years LightPeak will be ready for you and your 2nd mac!

of course this is all speculation on my part.

even if they do get released in january they wont be amazingly better, and the ones now are still like 2years futureproof
