Hi,

since my old notebook is dead I decided to spend my money on a macbook 13" (T7200 c2d, 1gb ram, white).

But the price for this notebook in Austria is (as in every country of the EU) ~ 1.300 € [1 € = 1.35 $; --> 1755 $!]. Luckily there is a student-offer for 1.160 € [1.650 $] - both are only 1 year warranty.

Hence I think of buying the Macbook in the US (my sister works for an Austrian flight company and stays in NY frequently). Do you think that this would end in a big disaster?

To discribe my worries in detail:
- is it possible to get this 3-years-warrant-package in US? (~300€ in Austria)
- if so: will my notebook be repaired in an Austrian Appleshop, or do I have to transfer it to the Appleshop in NY? (is the warranty accepted in another country?)
- How does the male jack look like (of an US-bought macbook)? I gueass, it is not possible to buy it with an Austrian plug for 220V that looks like this one below)
- How much is the macbook 13" (black & white plz!) atm in NY?
::EDIT:: I did not notice that the price are listed on the homepage. So it is <1.000 € for the white one and ~ 1.100 € for the black macbook
- Is it recommended to buy a Macbook within the next month (because of santa rosa, d10...)

to be honest we will try to avoid customs duty :rolleyes:
(if anyone knows: how much duty would I have to pay?)

greets from Vienna,
Michael
