I've long lusted after a Nano pro xdr. Awhile back, the rumor mill was rich with descriptions of pro xdr follow-ups but now I hear nothing. I have a shot at a new Nano with the full warranty (and thus Apple Care) for a decent price and am considering pulling the trigger.

I assume I am not along in giving this a hard think. I'm not a gamer, refresh rate is not a huge concern though it would sure be nice. I'm not sure what else I'd want in a package other than similar but cheaper which feels unlikely.

Any help for me?

Thanks!

The Dell U3224KB is closest. But just a matte screen, and has a hideous webcam bump (and the webcam doesn’t work well imo). Tho it does have speakers.

Less than 50% of the cost, and sometimes you can pick them up for $2,200.

If the Apple were $3,000 or maybe even $4,000 with stand I probably would have gotten one over the Dell. But of course the calculus is up to you.

I had the glossy XDR for 2 years and loved it. Earlier this year I sold it and decided to get the Nano textured display XDR and its one of my favorite Apple purchases of all time.

If this were a “need” and not a “want,” I’d ask if you need it now or can wait.

But since it’s a “want,” I say go for it if you can comfortably afford it. Nobody knows when the replacement will come along (Apple rarely updates its monitors) nor what it will be (tandem OLED? MicroLED? Vision Pro glasses?).

Hmm….Maybe I should get a one 😉

The only blockers (and they’re soft blockers) I have are:
1. Lack of integrated web cam. Yes, I can strap something up top, but it’s not great
2. Lack of integrated speakers. Yes, I can get better quality from standalone speakers, but it’s more space and *stuff*.

As good as the XDR is, I think it would be an addition to (and not replacement for) my Studio Display

You could get the Studio Display with the Nano screen, and full tilt and height stand for nearly a third of what you'd pay for a Nano XDR. It's plenty big enough; and you'd get the speakers, webcam, USB ports, etc.

I chuckle as I type this on two 49" Ultrawides and a 27" monitor setup.(I also own a separate 5k iMac so I have experience with that)

Everyone has different use cases as to why they want a bigger or smaller display. 27" is not that big though I would personally rather have two of them over a single 32" if that was my only options

I'm on XDR for 2 years and love it. Would definitely buy it again
