buy an iphone4 need advice

My Sprint contract will end on Sept 24 (2 year contract).
And I want to port my number to AT&T.
So my question is if I order an iphone online before Sept 24, does this gonna affect my contract with Sprint? I don't want to pay ETF. And when will my first bill with AT&T start, the day I order or the day I activate the phone?

i think you should go to ATT store and ask or call Sprint and ATT for more info since you have to use your old number, and the phone is not in stock.
