Buy bumper in store, return right away?

Well after returning my iPhone 4 last week, my reservation came in today for a new one.

I however don't want to wait for a free case. But I was told they would still sell them in store when more came in stock.

My question is, would I be able to buy it and then get my money back? Or does that only apply to bumpers before a certain date and I have to wait and order one.

Has anyone done this?
