Since custom orders are more than a month out for delivery, I am contemplating the purchase of a 24" iMac in store. I've found the configuration I want in stock locally several times, however I really want the keyboard with number pad and trackpad. I remember reading something that said current owners would be able to obtain color matched peripherals but they would not be on sale to the general public.

Has anyone gotten color matched peripherals for their 24" iMac separately after purchase?

Yes I have. I got the trackpad and I am still waiting for my keyboard with numeric keypad to ship, been a week now and still waiting. It says preparing to ship and hasn't moved so I assume it might have to be made in China first. I might give them a call in a few days and check what is happening.

Terrific. Can I ask what the cost was of each?

How did you go about ordering them?

Thank you!

I called and spoke to somebody in the applecare support team (I do have applecare if that made it possible)

The cost in Australian dollars was $179 + $19.95 for shipping for the pink trackpad (which I got in a couple of days). $249 for the keyboard and $19.95 for shipping (still waiting for them to ship it over a week later :( )

Stupid me ordered the trackpad first and then the keyboard, should have ordered both together, would have saved me the extra shipping cost probably.

Trying to accomplish this now, what a nightmare. I've literally been passed around at Apple 5 times. The rep I talked to on the phone said the same thing, that Apple Care could do it for me...then they transferred me to Apple Care and that woman was useless and transferred me back to sales. Now I'm transferred back to support and am on hold again...

This is just ridiculous that we can't buy matching accessories for these iMacs...

I bought a trackpad and a Magic Keyboard in pink for my iMac. I called Apple Support and explained to them what I want. They forwarded me to Apple Support and they dealt the whole thing as a replacement hardware order. I had to give them the serial number of my iMac and they sent me a link where I could pay for my order. One day later I received both accessories.

I'm an hour and 20 minutes in...I finally have someone in support who is really helping me but its long 20 minute at a time holds, needing the "reference number" from the purchase and they say the serial number won't help them.

So, no go. She says they can only replace hardware that the computer came with. So they can sell me another mini keyboard, but not an extended keyboard or any other accessories that didn't come with it in the matching color. I bought the computer from Micro Center, who is a certified Apple reseller. She called them directly, and they are going to reach out to me today or Monday and see if there's anything they can do...

Interesting and sad at the same time. I bought everything direct from Apple, but this shouldn't be the problem here. Apple must really make these accessories available on its AppleStore.

Micro Center called me and of course tried to sell me a silver one, says they don't make a blue one, so back to square one. I'm about to just return the whole thing.

This doesn’t seem right. I bought a pink extended keyboard after the fact because I regretted not getting it with my initial order. I was passed around sales and apple care numerous times until somebody figured they can order as a replacement with my apple care.

so it is possible, the woman you spoke to was just wrong

I wonder if the difference is you actually have Apple Care. I was going to get it anyway, I will and see if that makes a difference.
