Do you guys think the prices will drop in January or you'll get more for your money?(like the cheapest powermac will have a 2.3 instead of the 2.0 it has now for the same price)

dual-cores were just released in October, right?

I'm personally waiting, but its going to be a surprise if they have anything new to offer on the PowerMacs. The one thing is you just never know, so if you can wait it out 24 days, then it can't hurt. But if you need the machine now and can use it, you probably should just go and buy it.

Good luck,

D

wait till mid of january. then you get ilife06 for free. saves you the money for the upgrade. the macs will be the same.

Good suggestion. iLife '06 should be really nice. I am hoping Apple adds in a little surprise for us this year. :)

The Power Macs might see speed bumps or minor hardware revisions this spring but the difference won't be night and day.

Buy now with confidence.

Actually from history, for the G4 > G5 transition the bump from the 2nd last revision to the final revision was quite substantial.. with a price cut to boot!

I will wait for the final one :)

If you need a system now go for it. However if you can wait no risk in waiting.

I would buy one now. The current revision of Power Mac G5s are extremely nice, very fast computers that will handle all of your needs for a while to come. :)

But if you feel like playing the "waiting game" then go right ahead. :)

All about getting the best bang for your buck

If they drop some on the quad, or even make quad configurations move down towards the line I will get one in a heartbeat.. that's what I am hoping for.

I have been very tempted to sell my current Power Mac G5 and get a Quad. Not that for my uses I need four PowerPC G5 processors, its more of an ego thing I suppose. :)

If you need one right away, I would urge you to wait until after MWSF, when you'll at least get iLife 06 shipping with it. If you can wait longer, I would wait until spring, when we will most likely see a minor update to the line, even if it is just in the form of a price drop.

Erm, isn't MWSF in Spring?
