Good catch there. I wonder why this isn't available as a BTO option though. The Quadro 4800 is available from the apple store too, but also not BTO. Seems strange to me, but it could be because they are made by 3rd parties.
 
No .edu discount, disappointing since $35 gets shaved off of the 4870.

Regardless, it is nice to know that they are supporting it! Also nice to have a current high-end option without the MDP bs...

you can buy the new EVGA GeForce GTX 285 over the apple store now for 450$.

Wow, it's easily the most expensive GTX285 I could find by about $100. But, I guess I am supposed to greateful and thankful for even the opportunity to buy a current video card for about the first time in forever. Thanks Apple!

nothing much, but better than nothing I supposed - corp discount gives $18 off. ($432)

newegg: 449.99US -> 496.55 better


the 4870 is $419 (377 edu) so still a cheaper option
