Hello forum,
I am wondering wether to buy an the base iMac (Mid-2011) now or wait for the new one. When do you think this new one will come out? I know Apple are very secretive about their product releases. I can wait until Christmas if necessary. Also, when do you think Office for Mac 2013 will come out?
Thank you in advance!

If you can wait (especially for another 4+ months), then I would wait. Wait for the new 2012 models to come out, wait to see if any immediate bad patterns, then decide to buy. re: Buy the newly released 2012 models or buy an older 2011 model via refurbished buy. For 2012 models, some say a minor processor & video increase (IMO - not needed for typical home users with NO games). However, some say the new 2012 design model might be different screen size and/or include USB 3.0 as well. When new 2012 models are out, physically compare side by side and decide if you like their new design (features) or for the selling price, you like the older 2011 models better. If you are without a computer now, then buy now...

Wait

From what I understand, Apple has been waiting on the new processors from Intel to release the new iMac. Rumor has it that the processors will start shipping soon, I would guess mid summer the new iMac will be released. No idea on office though, sorry.

Hi! Welcome. There are several threads on this topic which you are welcome to jump in to. However, I never miss a chance to restate my opinion a slightly different way, so here you go.

The 2012 iMac will be released by:
April 30 - 10%
May 31 - 60%
Jun 30 - 90%
Jul 31 - 100%

I don't track MS Office releases, so I can't help you there. I haven't bought MS Office since 2003, and when it stopped working with the Lion install I started using iWork instead.
