iPhone XS Buy iPhone from Apple Store or AT&T store?

Are there any advantages to buying a new iPhone from one place or the other? All my searches just turned up really old info. TIA!

Buying an iPhone from Apple directly allows you to purchase it unlocked as well as avoids commitments to any specific carrier. Be smart, buy from the manufacturer, and swap every time someone offers a better price !

I prefer to get it directly from Apple, only because of their gracious return policy, whereas at&t charges a restocking fee. When preorders go live, typically the AT&T site would go live for me first so I usually end up buying from there anyway. And it’s worked well...still prefer directly from Apple, just in case I didn’t like a color or size.

I got mine at AT&T and got the same day delivery. Previously I always ordered unlocked direct from Apple but since I only had to pay the sales tax upfront, I did it this way this time.
