buy MacSpeech Dictate on Amazon?

MacSpeech Dictate has just announced a free upgrade to version 1.2 for existing customers. The usual price of the software is $200. Is there any downside to buying MacSpeech Dictate v. 1.1 on Amazon for $165, registering that version, then downloading the upgrade for free? Will that work okay, with no hidden surprises?
