Looking for some opinions. I have an iPhone 14 Pro. I did not upgrade to the i15P. Unfortunately I only have 128GB and it's not enough. I only have 3.5GB left.

Should I just upgrade now and get the 512GB iP15?

Or it's better to wait for i16P?

Does a slightly bigger screen become a pro or con for you? It seems the differences mostly stop there, and either gen Pro will support the upcoming AI stuff.

Always upgrade when you need to. If Apple does release a new iPhone later this year, you can always sell what you've got and buy into another upgrade at minimal cost.

Wow thank you all for the replies!!!

I think I will be able to wait. As of this moment I still have about 3.5GB and I can also delete items I don't need or use.

2 months is not long.

The main reason why I have chosen this route is because of the prospect of Ai.

I am glad to have asked on this forum, because I would not have thought of that on my own.

If Apple launches "iPhone Ai" that would be INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!

If you are satisfied with the size of your 14 Pro, then you should know that the 15 Pro is a bit smaller and lighter due to the titanium frame, and most importantly - everything points to the iPhone 16 Pro being larger than the 14 Pro.

The iPhone 15 Pro will immediately support the same AI functions as the upcoming 16 Pro series. 16 Pro will probably be a slightly better camera, better battery (15 Pro already has a good battery), better processor, and new colors. I don't think the 16 Pro series will offer the big news on the hardware, it's all in the software this year.

I would buy a new 15 Pro now. When the 16 Pro arrives, you can see if it's worth it, and then you can sell your 15 Pro as almost new - or keep it until the iPhone 17 series, as according to the rumors, comes with the real news (iPhone 17 Slim?)

As others have mentioned, do you want to stay with the 6.1" display and thus get the Iphone 15 Pro, or do you want the bigger 6.3" display that will be on the 16 Pro?

Similar question to OP but I need to get a new phone (have to turn current i15 pro back to employer as I am leaving). Is there any way to rent an iPhone for two months (half kidding)? I think my best bet is to buy a used i15 pro and then do a trade in Sept but curious if anyone else has a different idea. Not a lot of deals for unlocked devices.

Just get 15 Pro max, as you need it now. Or if you want to purchase a iPhone 11 on offer up or something for the couple months then use it as a trade in. Im sure you'll get a could trade offer via carrier.

I would probably just any old 2nd hand device for just a couple of months. Does it have to be a 15 Pro? You can probably survive with something older and therefore cheaper for just 2 months.

I would say if you can wait, then wait it's probably worth it to.

With that said, I just got the 15 Pro Max 256GB I was on the 14 Pro Max 256GB unlocked from Apple. However we were needing to add a phone and line for my kiddo who's going into high school. I could get a free phone but the monthly bill would have gone up quite a bit. We were with T-Mobile and for us to switch to Verizon was SO much cheaper. My wife was keeping her 14 Pro Max which was paid off too, and I could get the 15 Pro Max for $10.00/month.

For me it made sense. My kiddo is now getting my 14 Pro Max. I got my 15 Pro Max. I'll get the new features and knowing my wife once the 16 Pro Max is out she'll probably upgrade her phone to it once its out.

The appeal of a Pro/Max is that it has the latest tech. When it's 1/4 of the way through the 12 month cycle and you're past the Black Friday sales, might as well wait for the next iPhone.
I’ve always thought of it this way as well. I suppose it’s a little different if you’re going to keep the phone 2-3+ years like many do today.

Is anyone else concerned about resale value for 14 and below due to lack of AI support?

I was going to get a refurb 14PM, but might just wait for the 16PM instead, because I'll probably keep it for 4 years.

Slightly it was already getting pretty piss poor trade in values. T-Mobile would only give you the max $800+ if you're on their absolutly best plan which is already incredibly expensive but not atypical). Verizon when we switched this week (we needed to add a line and Verizon was cheaper for us to switch and add the line). They said $800 and then told me that my unlocked as I bought from Apple directly iPhone 14 Pro Max 256GB was not eligible and would only give me $400 for it. So rather than getting a new phone for the line we needed to add during the switch that line got my 14 Pro Max and I picked up the 15 Pro Max (Yes I know the 16 PM is coming but we needed to add the line so oh well.) I think the trade in values will be even worse when the 16 P and 16 PM are announced.

If you can hold out until September, I would wait and save even more on the 15 series if that is what you plan on buying, instead of the 16.

You know full well a new iPhone is coming out in just 2 months time as you've been active here for 10 years and ask these sorts of questions on a regular basis.
