Is the MBP really approaching the end of the cycle? Are these laptops really not worth buying? When the new ones come out, are the old ones going to be easy to get on eBay for pennies on the dollar?

Prices will stay the same. Macs are insanely good at holding their value. Even previous gens. And I doubt we see updates until sometime next year. They'll at least keep this model for the holidays. Thats just based on the previous cycles. I've seen some people saying no updates until Macworld!!

The current MacBook Pro came out in June just short of 6 months ago - we've had MacBook, iMac and Mac Mini updates more recently than that.

January's macworld event seems like a good time to announce a new MacBook Pro, and/or Mac Pro

Apple usually sells its older models in the online Refurb store at discount (after the latest MBP was announced, the former model appeared in the Refurb store with $400 / £250 off)
