Got both, and they have both (thus far) been a PITA to set up.
Have had a TiVo Series 2 for quite a while, and it works like a champ. Series 3, mostly due to Time Warner Cable and their implimnetation (?) of Cable Card, has yet to work correctly, after 3 weeks. Only get about 1/2 the channels, and I have about 12 hours and 4 truck rolls into trying to troubel shoot it. Caveat emptor- make sure your cable provider can get the S3 working, and be aware of all the BS around switch digital video.

Having said that, I am now 4 hours after doing activation for iPhone, and have no iPhone service, and no service on my old phone either....
