T-Mobile is running a "Get 4 iPhone 11s on Us" campaign with trade-in of iPhone 7 or better. A couple of my phones are older so am thinking of just buying used(good+ condition) iPhone 7s on Gazelle or Swappa for ~$200 and handing those in for a $700 iPhone 11. This seems too easy and sensible so, before I do that, I just want to check with folks here if I'm I missing something. If it seems too good to be true.....

the idea behind this is not bad!

but i dont know if it is legal or somthing else.....

Why isn’t it legal? If he purchases the other phones they’re his just like the older phones he has. T-Mobile could care less.

If you think it worth the time, I don’t see T-Mobile having any problem with it

I've did this back when tmobile had a previous trade in promo a couple months back. I bought a 7 off ebay for $170 that was in very good condition. If you go the ebay route, just make sure that the phones are unlocked and that and no payments are remaining on the device. I was able to use swappa's tool to check the imei info.

Good luck

Thanks - that's what I was hoping to hear!

Yeah, reading their conditions:
"Buy iPhone 11 on a monthly payment plan."
"We'll apply the balance of your promotion by crediting your bill each month."

I rather have 4 unlocked Verizon iPhone 7 (meaning it works with all carriers) than to have 4 locked T-Mobile iPhone 11 and locked to T-Mobile for 2 years. I guess it's fine if you fully intend to stick with T-Mobile.

It's the latest way to do "contracts" essentially.

This is why I don't do it. They lock you into the phone for 2 years....you lose the credits if you want to trade up the next year and will owe the balance of the phone...unless you plan on keeping the phone for a while it's probably ok...I just know I would most likely upgrade each year and end up losing the credits and owing a balance lol
