What if there could be information about the computers like what they are good to be used for.

Example: PowerMac G5

3D Work "Maya, Shake"
Heavy Imagework "CS2"
Heavy Audio and Video editing "Final Cut Studio"

etc.

Could something like that be possible
Would be great to see what level of apps that the machines can handle :D

It'd certainly be really helpful but I think it'd be a massive amount of work to maintain. Maybe if it was done in a similar way to Wikipedia where everyone modifies it, not just moderators, it could be easier.

It could be a bit subjective as well, e.g. a Mac Mini can easily run Photoshop, but some people would say it's too slow while others might be fine with it. Posting specific benchmarks might be better, but again, they're not perfect either - work to update it and the usual fact that benchmarks aren't necessarily representitive of real life usage.

It's a good idea, but MR cannot be that specific, and not all things to all people. You can ask specific questions about any concerns you have of a particular machine's suitability for a task that you are interested in. Chances are that another member will post information to help you.

It is a good idea to see what software each computer can use and what it can't...don't know if we will see it or not on macrumors.
