Allo. I have now a brand new 16+ still on the 15 days return option. Coming from an 11 and 12 (used for a couple of weeks), unfortunately I must say I'm not very impressed. Is it me or the phone? Please help see clearly here. The screen is barely acceptable but no more. Dim, colours washed out and really not standing out. Either it's so bright it hurts the yes either it's so dim, it's unwatchable. This is my biggest complain. When I don't fiddle in the settings in Accessibility and color filters, the screen is so damn yellow, it's almost funny or ridicule. Compared to the 11's and 12's it's a disaster. Even the 11 has better contrats and better colours. The fact that the 16 has an OLED? Possible but the 12 is so so much better in every way. I'm not complaining about the 60hz I'm OK with that, not about Apple Intelligence. Seems that there's a lack of Wow with that phone and I'm not comfortable with that. A dud? Do 16 owners find their screen is not up to the hype of OLED.

Hard to say without seeing it in person but if you don't like it, return the phone. There is no rule that you must keep something you do not like.

The screen shouldn't be worse than the 12, there could be something wrong with your phone, possibly a bad panel.

Also the iPhone has had OLED for a while now, in 2017 the iPhone X was the first OLED iPhone and the iPhone 12 has an OLED display as well. The 12 was my previous phone and I find the screen on the standard iPhones 12 through 16 are really similar, higher brightness aside. I had to go to the 16 Pro to actually get a noticeably better display.

Thank you all. I'm definitely going to the Apple Store and will ask for a replacement. BTW is this normal setting: brightness slider is at 75% and it becomes more acceptable but isn't 75% a bit high and will tax the battery life? Always been told the brightest the screen, the shorter the battery life.

The iPhone 16 and 16 Pro have a wider brightness range than older models. The iPhone 16 can go as low as 1 nit and can get as bright as 2000 nits outdoors so it's hard to make a direct comparison.

for what its worth, when i went from the 7 to the 13 pro, the 13 pro screen was extreeeeeeemely yellow looking, relative not only to my old phone but also to my macbook pro screen, to the point where i was ready to ditch it. but i sorta just sighed and let it go.

now i'm sure part of it is ones eyes acclimating to something unfamiliar; but i just compared it again to my macbook pro, and they look much more similar.

way back in the day i used to read some stuff about 'the glue under the screen still needs to dry' which sounded like BS, but whatever the reason, the 'yellowness' of the screen has not ended up being a long term issue, and the phone is nearly 4 years old now!

My 16+ had an amazing screen. Better than my 12 pro. In the end tho I returned it because I wanted a smaller phone and got the 16e.

Hello again. Had to ask Apple a replacement. I went to the Apple Store and a "seller" compared my 19 Plus to those on the displays, The difference was obvious. I came back with another new 16 Plus. The screen seems perfect but I will go back to Apple Store and compare again. Still nervous...
