Luckily this hasn't happened. Just a "what if".

If I shatter my iPhone, what is the process for getting a new one as soon as absolutely possible? Would I just need to go to the Apple Store and buy another iPhone there and let them replace my SIM? Is the 32GB 3GS $599 or $699?

Thanks.

so in theory couldnt you pick up a really messed up 3gs for cheap and then take it in and get a replacement for 199?

Problem is, buying even a "messed" up iPhone is still an expensive endeavor. There's really no way to beat the system.

So if you damage your iPhone beyond repair, you just carry it to the Apple Store, give them $199, and they give you a new iPhone? Is this only applicable throughout the first year?

What if the phone is lost or stolen?

You'll get a rerurb and only if you damage it in a way that voids your warranty... such as water damage or physical damage such as smashing the screen as you mentioned.

If it's lost or stolen you're looking at paying retail to replace it or using an early upgrade if available?
