I recently purchaesed an airport basestation for my macbook. I have a core2duo black macbook so I am pretty sure that it has 802.11n but I'm pretty sure I have to pay a few dollars for it to be activated. Is this still true? I can't find resources anywhere on the apple website.

So if I just ran the installer that came with the CD my computer in now 'n'abled?
That is correct if you are on Tiger. In that case you want to run the installer anyway to get the newer Airport Utility software. If you have Leopard, you should be all set and there's no need to run the installer.
