You have to buy it online. I have been advised that they are not stocking this model in any retail store. They tend to have all the other ones (matte screen, i5, other sizes, etc). It's just this particular combination which has proven unpopular.

buying a 15" MBP i7 with hi-res glossy screen?

Yes, that's true. I bought an i7 15" yesterday at the local apple store. Didn't want the matte screen but was looking at the possibility of the hi res. They said it was not a store model. No matter after spending some time with the high res I preferred the standard res anyways.
