Buying a 16GB iPhone after a 32GB one

Hi guys,

I intend to buy a 16GB iPhone 5 as I've gotten rid of my 4S to fund it. Now I have a back-up of about 13.7GB to restore to, and was wondering how much of the space on a brand new iPhone 16GB with iOS is usable (not taken up by the OS).

If, for instance, I do exceed the amount, will iTunes ask/allow me to remove individual things when backing up to make room, or will it just deny me the restore?

We won't know till the device is out, mostly because the OS will most certainly have new features which could take up more space than the OS does on the current iPhone.
