Buying a full price AT&T iPhone to add to a family plan at Apple Store

I have a family plan with AT&T and want to add a new line and new iphone 6. I also want to pay full price for the phone. Has anyone had any luck buying a full price...device only...at an Apple retail store under these circumstances?

My apple store has the model I want but trying to preorder it is contract pricing. Since I already have a plan with ATT I was hoping they would sell me one at full price.
