Hi guys-

I'm going to get a Macbook today at my local apple store. I am making a jump from a HP PC to a Mac.

I am a student and will be getting the free ipod touch and printer with the mac.

I will be getting the middle model (2.4ghz, 2gb RAM, 160gb harddrive, etc.) My main question is should I purchase the iWork software or can I somehow put microsoft word and excel on the mac?

I think I have chosen the model with a good amount of memory and power for my needs but any opinions are welcome.

I should be going to purchase it this afternoon at the applestore....

Also is Applecare worth the money?

Thanks

Yes. In my opinion, you should purchase it here. There are places where you can get it cheaper though.
no no no. It's cheaper to get it direct through Apple with the student discount, which the OP obviously qualifies for.
