Buying a new MBP tomorrow, need some migrating help

Hey MRWorld.

I'm buying a 13" MBP tomorrow, and i need some help with migrating. So i have my 13" white macbook, and i have it backed up to a 320GB Western Digital USB hard drive. Now my friends have told me that the migrate assistant in OS X only migrates through a FW drive.. So my question is, is there any other way i can migrate my backup to my new macbook pro?

Some twitter folks suggested Carbon Copy Cloner, how good does that work and what does it do exactly?

I have used an ethernet cable and FW with good luck. The migration assistant will make it a snap. Or you can go to help and look it up on my Macbook.

You can use Time Machine to do a backup to the external drive, and Time Machine can easily restore from a backup, even if it is on a USB drive. It has worked perfectly for me.
