I am buying a open box Macbook, it is claimed not started/used at all, but I would like to know if there is a way to verify in Mac OS that the system is indeed not started and no changes been made anytime.

Appreciate any tweaks/tricks that could be used to ensure this....

Thanks!

Well umm.. when it starts up it should ask you to setup the accounts and other information like registering etc., chances are it has been started up at least once to make sure it's not DOA, so as long as it looks brand new on the outside your good.

Thanks for your replies Andrew Henry/agl82.

I have a couple of doubts -

1. So, is it possible to bypass the system setup/registering and still use the system?

2. If the system had been used and OS been reinstalled, still the cycle count shows the original usage or reset?

3. Any hardware tests that we could perform, ideas?

Bought the item because of lower than retail price but would like to ensure, the system i receive is indeed perfect.

Thanks!
