Hey everyone,

I will finally have the money to pick up a Mac in June thanks to my company paying for my classes and Apple giving a huge discount for purchases through my company.

I am looking to get the refurbished 20inch Imac and have these two options:

$849

Refurbished iMac 20-inch 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

20-inch glossy widescreen display
1GB memory
250GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 128MB memory
Built-in iSight Camera

OR

$999

Refurbished iMac 20-inch 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

20-inch glossy widescreen display
2GB memory
320GB hard drive
8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory
Built-in iSight

I am leaning towards the $999 model due to upgraded memory and graphics card. Will this play HD content perfectly (such as videos on You tube, or downloaded HD content)?

If I wait until June and Snow Leopard comes out, will these automatically come with Snow Leopard? Does anyone remember if during the tiger to leopard transition if the refurbished models still came with tiger? '

Thanks!

Refurb machines come with whatever they originally shipped with. If the machine you buy shipped with Leopard, that's what the refurb will have.

Don't they do the drop in DVD once they become available? Most of the time they offer the new OS during a transition as a $9.95 option. Anyone else have experience?

I was thinking they'd do what MS did and basically give people who bought a computer with XP after a certain point a free upgrade to Vista

...isn't the 2600 Pro a lower grade card than the 2600XT?

I just decided to get the lower 20" iMac as the $150 saved could get a larger external HDD and 4GB of RAM...

Will I really notice .26 speed difference in the CPU?

Is there really that much difference between the 2400XT and the 2600Pro GPU's?

I've seen that before. It was available when Leopard came out, though I can't remember if it was for refurbs or new models that had Tiger still installed.
