Buying a small laptop mouse?

I am trying to buy a small mouse for my laptop. I heard from my friend that any small usb mouse should work.

Yes, any small mouse will work.

I have a tiny USB one that I connect to my mac from time to time. It's about an inch wide, has two buttons, and a nice little scroll wheel. Picked it up at microcenter for $7, IIRC.
