hi currently I’m thinking of replacing my ipad pro with either a 2017 macbook or a baseline 2016 13’ macbook pro. I’ll just use it to type word files and watch movies/videos. The 2018 macbook air is perfect for my use but it’s still expensive so that’s not an option.

Problems
1. Macbook really that small? Is the screen a downgrade from my 2015 ipad pro 12.9?
2. Is it true that these keyboards really suck that they would eventually break?
3. Does the batteries really last for 10hrs?
4. How about the speakers? Do they sound great?

The ipad can do all the tasks I need to do but it just feels so slow compared to using a laptop.

Technically yes. But if you’d really notice in everyday use ... ?!
2. Is it true that these keyboards really suck that they would eventually break?
You need some time to get used to the keyboard. Especially you need to learn to use much less typing force than with most other keyboards. After that, it’s a question of personal perception if the keyboard is bad or not. I’m perfectly fine with it.
3. Does the batteries really last for 10hrs?
That depends on so many factors (e.g. screen brightness, wireless reception, machine load etc.). But it is possible.
4. How about the speakers? Do they sound great?
Yes! First time I experienced the sound I was amazed about the clear and rich sound that this little machine is able to deliver! Perhaps even better sound than from the 12.9 iPad.

That’s probably because a purely touch-based interface is rather clumsy when compared to a more traditional solution with Touchpad and physical keyboard.
