Hello All,

Back in 2017, I bought a late 2013 21.5 IMac and soon discovered my limitations with this unit but made the best of it till I was able to get a another unit. Well, last week, I came across a Late 2009 27" Imac 11.1 that has been upgraded with 512 SSD and thought I might do the trick. Well, after having it just dropped off by a repair guy, come to find out, I got burned on the deal. He did confirm that the SSD has been installed but person who I bought it from had loaded up both High Sierra & Mojave on it and that was just the start of it. (wires cut, screws missing, wrong memory installed) Needless to say, I feel like such a tool for believing in humanity and that the guy was being straight up. When I reached out to him and asked for my money back, he disappeared. Before that, he was all about wanting to help me out so I can be happy with my new computer. I had already spent the funds to max the ram to 32GB from OWC and while I was searching OWC website, I noticed they sold used units. (The price I paid for what I have now + memory + the repair bill "*UCKME") has me wondering why I jumped the gun so quickly on this unit locally. Never Ever Again !!!!

So getting back to my main question, has anyone bought one of these units from OWC and if so, how did you expectations turn out? Was it worth the deal? Trying to avoid anything off Ebay but I am open to suggestions...

E-Bay is just one giant flea market. You run a big chance of being cheated. But sometimes, when scoring a rare part or board, it is worth the risk. Not so with a used computer.

There are many reputable "Referb" houses on line. OWC and Mac Of All Trades have been good, reliable vendors for us.

Many here will only buy referbs from the Apple store. We like to steer our purchases to the "little guys". Good luck.
