I'm currently looking at options on buying a used iMac for work.

At present I use a 2011 13" MB Air with 4Gb RAM and 256 GB SSD, but to be honest it's just to big enough for what I need.

Ive been considering either a 24" or 27" used iMac although budget is a consideration. It only stretches to maybe a 2009/2010 model. I've even considered a 21.5 but not sure the screen size really offers that much more for me than I get with my current Air.

I've played with an external monitor previously but didn't really like the set up, it just didn't seem to work well, hence the idea of going to an iMac.

Most of the work I do iWeb design and building with a touch of photoshop thrown in, and I also use Adobe Lightroom for my own photography stuff.

So, is this a good idea or should I consider other options such as a Mac Mini with alternate monitor or maybe re-consider my options completely?

If you have a spare display lying around it is best to buy the mac mini. easier to upgrade and easier to repair.
