Buying a Used Mac

I am looking to buy a used older Mac for a family member, that will mainly used the Mac for surfing the web and checking emails. No huge files or programs or gaming.

I was thinking of either an G4 older iMac or maybe a G3 iBook from this site

Anything to look out for when buying a used Mac? Also is a G4 better than a G3 or really for what this person will be doing it won't matter?

Suggestions? Ideas??

You can get an older G4 iman on ebay for about 100 dollars. They're the way to go. I got an amazing deal on here for 41 dollars plus shipping for a G4.
