Buying an iMac with Final Cut Pro - question on that

I'm going to be buying a Mac with FCP- is it pre-installed? If I reinstall the OS, do I download it from the App store? Does it get applied to my apple ID?

No it’s not pre-installed, it would be linked to the current owners Apple ID. So if you do reinstall the OS you’d need to purchase and download from the App Store.

So it’s ties to my Apple ID that I used to purchase? When I mentioned a reinstall I would be keeping the computer. I just want to make sure that I can keep the software and reinstall.

Is it a new iMac or are you buying it from someone?

If it’s purchased from Apple it will be tied to your Apple ID when you sign in for the first time.

New from Apple.com. I would select Final Cut Pro to the cart.

You have to adopt the app to get it associated with your Apple Account. Once it's associated with your account, you can re-download it. Some people supposedly have had trouble with this process or didn't know what to do n the past. If you aren't getting a discount by having it pre-installed, I would just purchase it through the App Store once you get your new Mac for peace of mind.
