buying an ipad in the Philippines

Can anyone tell me if I buy an ipad2 with 3g in the Philippines, will I be able to use the 3g in the US. I realize I will have to get a sim from AT&T, but other than that will it work?

I was in the PI for Christmas. My Father-in-law had a U.S. bought iPad connected to 3G coverage. Not sure if a SIM Card was installed, though. Should work in either country.

No, but my husband is there and he is thinking of buying one. It is a bit cheaper due to the exchange rate.
