Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an iPad mini on craigslist and I asked the guy for a serial number. He gave it to me and I checked it on Apple's website... problem is in his pictures it's a black iPad mini and the serial number shows a white one... could it just be that Apple doesn't connect the color to the serial number? or should I be suspicious?

If you want a used mini so bad just jump on the apple refurb store. No risk.

The guy is getting rid of his 1st gen for the second. Selling a 16 gb/4g, for $260... that's why.

Sorry to have riled anyone for bumping a thread...

all my registered products have their color right so I'm pretty sure it is in the serial number, as others have said id stay away.

Well, I checked it out, and it looked okay. The serial number was correct and etched into the back... so I don't know why the color didn't match. It looked fine in every aspect and worked fine too. I bought it and haven't had any problems so far. :)
