Buying an Iphone, help me create an on store checklist to check on the store.

The iphone 3g is coming on the 17 october and i always was updated on the build problems and other out of the box problems.

So please put a list of things you think i can check on store to avoid build problems, or if there is anything that might be wrong like dead pixels and the quickest way to verify it on on store.

Also how i can know that they are not selling a refurb etc...
