iPod touch Buying an iPod Touch 2nd Gen as a gift, buy now or wait?

I am going to Spain in 3 weeks and want to buy an iPod Touch as a gift for a friend, I know the buyer's guide says don't buy but I need to buy this before I leave. I guess I am just venting b/c I know a new Gen won't come out before I leave so therefore I am stuck buying the 2nd gen knowing that the 3rd Gen will come out in Aug./Sept.

if you're flying from Britain you can get it tax free at the airport. Dixons, I think. Of course, you won't be able to use it until you can find a computer with iTunes on it. That could be a bit annoying.
