Buying Applecare for new 13"MBP question..

Correct me if I am not understanding this precisely.

I have purchased a 13"MBP last week. I did consider buying an Applecare but
my understanding of the MBP 13"'s warranty is a year. So I was thinking why don't I just wait a year and buy the Apple care?

Did I make a huge mistake by not purchasing the Applecare at the same time as MBP?

You are exactly correct, you have one year from the initial purchase to buy and register applecare.

I have heard that if you buy it at the same time as your computer, they will somehow automatically enrolled in applecare without you having to do anything.

Don't wait until the last minute, though; you don't want a gap in coverage.
