Buying AppleCare from eBay USA for use in the UK

A friend of mine is ready to purchase AppleCare for his Power Mac G5 which is nearly 12 months old.

It costs £199 in the UK but he has seen it on eBay from the USA for roughly £100.

I'm sure I saw a thread on here which said it was safe to buy AppleCare like this, but I can't find it doing a search. He just needs to know it is going to work ok before he buys it.
