Have been on the fence about this with my new Mini, usually I don't buy it. But decided it might be worthwhile, so I just went through the online signup, it recognized my serial number and took me to the purchase screen where I had to login with my Apple ID. Things started to get annoying at this point when it wouldn't accept my password. This happens almost everytime when Apple throws up a dialog that has my e-mail address pre-filled in. Am sure I typed the correct password, but to be sure, I tried copy/pasting from my password database. Still didn't work, so I used the option to enter the e-mail manually and then the password worked.

Now I got to the purchase point where I needed to enter a credit card. Was surprised that there was no option use Apple Pay and get the 3% cash back. So I used the Apple Mastercard info from the Wallet app on my phone, which has worked on other sites that don't accept Apple Pay. I was then greeted with a message saying sorry, something went wrong. Tried again with my American Express card and got the same thing, with a suggestion to contact Apple Support.

Forget it. I think I will just save the $100. Anyone else have problems with this recently?

I didn’t have a problem buying AppleCare+ for my new iPad Pro 11 (2020) a few weeks ago. However, I did have trouble with trying to buy it for my iPad mini 5 last year. It wouldn’t accept my ApplePay card or my American Excess card. I had to call Apple (which was quick) to get it pushed through. If I remember correctly, I have had trouble busting online 3 different times over the years.
