Hey guys well tomorrow il be buying my first iMac, I have enough to get the 1st 27" model or the 2nd 21.5" with the upgraded i7.

I have decided not to get the 27" as the higher resolution would make games laggy and harder to render.

My question is will upgrading the CPU of the 21.5 to the i7 give me any significant performance increase in games?

I know it will help with rendering times for my 3D work in mudbox and 3DSmax but what about actuall game play?

i5 = i7 in games.

i7 as you said is better for encoding.

THE GPU is the limiting factor 6770M vs 6970M for games.

An iMac is not good for games. Save some money and buy a less expensive PC, you'll be so glad you did. You can run all the games you like no problem.
