Hello,

I am in Reading (UK). I wish to buy a new Time Capsule 500GB. There is not an AppleStore here.

Is it possible to buy by internet using a student discount? How?

Thank you so much!

Well, I went to the education store associated with my Uni, picked what I wanted, clicked a button declaring I am eligible to purchase from the edu store, and then paid by credit card.

Not sure about the UK, but the US online Apple Store has a link for educational pricing. You have to select your school from a list and proceed from there.

Just found it, thank you.

Not a great discount for a TimeCapsule 500GB. :(

Thank you.

There's tiered education discounts. Don't quote me on this, but I believe it is 7% for second level education and 10.5% for third level. Only makes a biggish difference when buying an expensive computer.

FYI, if you want to purchase something more expensive like MBP or mac pro, try the ADC program for student. I got extra $200 discount for that :D

the UK higher education discounts are quite high, but can only be accessed from your university campus. From what I can remember they are about 13% - 15% on computers except the mac mini which is 10% along with most apple accessories except ipods.

Visit http://apple.procureweb.ac.uk to get the biggest discounts.

Also, don't buy a Time Capsule, I bought one and it was easily the worst WiFi router I've ever owned. I returned it to the store when the hard drive failed and thankfully they gave me a refund. I'll be sticking to brands of routers I know are reliable like Linksys from now on.

The Time Capsule sucks and is overpriced, the Airport Express is a far superior router, then just connect it to your choice of network hard drive, a much much cheaper option.

AirPort Extreme connects to an external HDD, not AirPort Express.

not sure what education store you're getting on to, but anyone can access the FE store (further education, six form, college) but if you're at university you can access the HE store for more discount. you can ONLY do this when you're using a university computer and wireless network.

Not true, I can access mine from my home internet.

care to explain how? the only way i've ever done it is by using my girlfriends dad's computer, as hes a university lecturer and can access the university network from home.

i get this when i try from any other internet source:

I am going off to college this summer to a college that is 2 hours away. Every one says to get the HE discount you need to be on a campus computer. This really wont be possible because its not like I can just drive there one day.

I live in the US. Is there any way to receive the HE discount through placing an order on the phone?
