Buying full retail AT&T iPhone 6 at Apple Store

I just called the Apple Store and they said I could pay the full retail price for the AT&T iPhone 6... I would just be locked into another two year contract.

This sounds absolutely ridiculous, any truth to it?

They said they have to because it's something with the system.

I can't pay full retail price for the phone online though, so maybe she's right.

Just buy it. You don't even have to give them your name.

Walk into the store and just pay for it. You don't even have to give them your account information.

Yeah, walk in and say you want a "device only" phone. They don't need your ATT account number or anything.

The rep doesn't know what she's talking about. When you buy an AT&T iPhone from the Apple store it will automatically be an Unlocked phone. However the important thing to remember is to tell them you want them to select 'Device Only' when they are ringing you up. I do it every year with every new iPhone.
