If I buy a family pack, it says that I can install on up to 5 computers in one "household". But what if I want to put it on my laptop and then also do the same for my sister and brother in law, who live at a different address? Does the software ask for an address when you install it or somehow know that it's being installed in different locations?

Honestly, it's fine. My friend and I usually chip together to buy family packs when Apple release new software.

There's nothing in the software or registration that would stop you.

That being said, Apple is pretty clear that it is only for those living in the same house (or dependents away at university).
