Hello Everyone,
After apple finally decided to dropped the price on the iMac G5. I seriously considered on buying it. I have gotten to the point where I have taken out a loan for
(Yes I do have most of the money saved up already). But then I came to a few problems that I didnt really think about.
One, I am currently applying to a few internships for the summer and a most of location I will be at will be out of driving range. Some locations go as far as alaska. And because of that, relocation will be done thru airplane. So the big quesion is the age old. desktop versus laptop. I really dont think I can live without a computer for 3 and a half months. So should I ship my iMac or buy a laptop instead?
Two, Display expansion. While everyone is debating about the performance of intel vs G5 on the iMac. My only concern was the display expanision option. As a student I do alot of reading and poker playing. So I would have multiple documents or game rooms opens. And often I find myself running out of display restate. I do know there is a hack to disable display mirroring on the G5 but I dont how high of a resolution it supports. So that is another I have to consider.
Well thats my two biggest problem. In addition, my daily computing needs are the following: Safari, mail, word, mail, vlc or QT, iphoto, itunes, and some photoshop. I have about 1500 bucks to spend. Please lend me your wisdom on my next mac purchase
