Hi, I'm currently in the UK but want to buy the iPad 2 for my father as a present and have him pick it up in the local U.S. Apple store.

Is that possible? Does he need to show ID?

P.S. I can't have it shipped because his birthday is tomorrow.

Best buy allows this. Just call his local best buy and have them arrange a pickup. Remember to pay over the phone. The orders are put into the system.

Because there's a big bit of water between him and the recipient?

Thanks for that!

I was actually trying to get on the Apple Black Friday deal (which isn't much) but I was able to just order it and get it shipped to his home. Too bad the overnight shipping at Apple.com does not consider Saturdays. :(

Oh well, 2 days late but I hope it will be fine.
