Buying iPhone 3GS and 4 on one contract

I'm not from USA, but I have friend in USA who already have iPhone and contract with AT&T and he will buy iphone 4 for himself. I'm thinking about asking him to buy 3GS for me.

But, can he buy 2 iPhones on one contract. iPhone 4 for him (he will probably just renew his contract) and iPhone 3GS for me on same contract but without any extra expenses.

Well there would be the ETF fee for canceling the 3GS (I assume you don't want an ATT account). That is $375. It maybe be more effective to just buy an unlocked 3GS on eBay.
